Sherborne Girls offers a broad and innovative academic education with a strong emphasis on developing an enquiring mind, instilling a good work ethic and striving for excellence.

Sherborne Girls' curriculum expands knowledge and academic experience beyond the rote learning of pre-described specifications for examination success, focusing on understanding and depth of knowledge, exploring lines of enquiry for long-term academic success beyond school.  It incorporates the development of life skills including self-confidence, emotional intelligence and creative intelligence for successful future leaders, communicators, performers and good citizens.  The developing brain can be trained in many directions and maintaining a breadth of experiences is an important part of the stretch that a young girl needs. Our curriculum caters for girls seeking either a highly academic focus or an all-round education.

Pupils show outstandingly positive and productive attitudes to their work and study. They are highly effective learners who work hard and persevere in all they do.

In the Sixth Form, we offer courses for girls wishing to follow specific subjects in depth (A Levels) and those who wish to maintain breadth in their education (via the International Baccalaureate).  In addition, throughout the school, we provide a considerable programme of co-curricular activities including academic enrichment and many opportunities for joint societies and lectures with Sherborne School and the wider community. Our extensive co-curricular programme of academic, artistic and sporting activities enables girls to embrace all the opportunities life at a full boarding school presents and to feel part of the Sherborne community from day one.

Through our tutor system, we are proud of the individual support we are able to provide our students to ensure that every girl is appropriately supported and challenged to achieve success and fuel academic interest.

Girls at the school consistently achieve outstanding results at GCSE, A Level and IB.  Sherborne Girls also has particularly high value-added scores representing the success of every individual.

The academic success of pupils is strongly influenced by much effective teaching which stimulates interest, provides a high degree of challenge and encourages active pupil involvement.
