Riding is an excellent activity for all pupils; as well as being physically active, it is good for co-ordination, confidence and dexterity.
Sherborne Girls facilitates weekly riding lessons at a local riding school for beginners wanting to learn to ride or for those wanting to ride for fun. Instruction is offered in flatwork or jumping in a floodlit all-weather arena during the Michaelmas and Lent term on Sunday afternoons. In the Trinity term the girls have access to a variety of cross country jumps and also hack along quiet country lanes. The students usually ride in a group lesson but individual lessons can also be booked if preferred.
For those students who have their own ponies/horses and wish to ride competitively the school enters teams for a number of equestrian events such as; Hickstead, Stonar One Day Event, and NSEA competitions. Girls of all ages compete in teams together at One Day Events, Show Jumping and Dressage competitions.
