Lacrosse is one of the main winter sports at Sherborne Girls and is played throughout the autumn and spring terms.
Players receive the highest level of coaching with two former national standard players coaching to provide the most up-to-date techniques and strategies.
Tours and tournaments
Along with regular season matches, the girls also participate in tours which have been to Australia, Canada and Europe in the past. There are also opportunities for players to participate in lacrosse outside of school, including teams at U14, U15 and senior level participating at national tournaments and a variety of locally held tournaments by different schools including the Sherborne Super 8s held here at the start of every season. Elite girls are encouraged and given the opportunity to be a part of county and regional teams. Recently we have had girls attending the Lacrosse National Training Centre, which is a feeder into the England U19 and senior England squads.
- Our U18 first lacrosse team successfully won Division 2 of the 2015/16 Rathbones National Schools Lacrosse Championships.
- In 2014, one of our players was selected for the U19 SW Lacrosse Development Team.
- Eight players were selected to play for Dorset & Wiltshire at U15 and U19 level.
- Sherborne Girls’ Head of Lacrosse, Ryan Garnsworthy, was selected as the new SW Schools U19 coach.
