We have a number of other groups and ensembles playing classical and popular music.

      Chamber groups

Playing an independent line in a small instrumental ensemble is a vital part of every child’s musical education. There is a flourishing programme of chamber music under the guidance of Catrin Win Morgan, Head of Strings, and Jenny Nelson, Head of Woodwind, Brass and Percussion.

Among current ensembles there are three String Quartets, a Flute Quartet, a Clarinet Quartet, a Saxophone Quartet, a Woodwind Trio and a Guitar Group. The Jazz Band has re-formed, and under the direction of Jenny Nelson has become an outlet for jazz and blues. As well as performing regularly in school concerts, our chamber groups are frequent ambassadors for our outreach work in the Sherborne community, performing in other local schools, hospitals and nursing homes.

      Roc Soc

Organised jointly with Sherborne School, RocSoc provides a platform for those girls wanting to perform in a popular/rock mode. There are often a number of boy-girl bands, especially among senior pupils, keen to take part in the twice-yearly RocSoc events. Acoustic musicians are also encouraged to perform in Unplugged concerts.
