      Visits

The first step for most parents is a visit to the school. We would like to encourage you to visit Sherborne Girls in order to see the school in action, and to meet the girls and the staff. Visits may be made during our open events, within a small group for a tour morning, or individually. We hold open events during the year, detailed below. In all cases, the visit will include a tour of the school and meeting with senior members of staff. Individual appointments will allow for the opportunity of meeting the Headmistress.

We recommend an open event or a tour morning visit as an initial step if you are looking for a few years in the future, but an individual appointment if you are considering your daughter starting at the school in the next couple of years. To arrange a visit please contact Mrs Jenny Hinks via registrar@sherborne.com, 01935 818224.

      Pre-assessment Day

Those registered for entry at 13+ will be invited to a pre-assessment day in the Lent (spring) term. This is an opportunity to see the school during a busy weekend. The students will have short assessments in Maths and English and be interviewed by a senior member of staff. They will have lunch in a boarding house and join in with the Sunday activities which are taking place for the boarders in the afternoon. A question and answer session will be held for parents.

      Boarding Taster

All those who are registered for the next school year will be invited to visit Sherborne Girls for an overnight stay during the Michaelmas (autumn) term. This is an introduction to weekend boarding life. The girls arrive on either a Friday or Saturday and spend one night in the boarding house. They stay in a house with girls of their own age and join in the weekend activities, such as sports or crafts. The boarding taster events for 13+ entry involve a slightly more rigorous programme of events and may include an interview with a senior member of staff. We organise one 11+ and one 13+ boarding taster event each year.

      Sixth Form Visits

We do not organise any formal taster events for sixth form entry but students are very welcome to arrange to spend a day with us to fit with their own busy schedule. Those sitting for a sixth form scholarship will be invited to stay overnight.
