Wingfield Digby is in an excellent central position on the campus and offers gracious, yet modern and comfortable accommodation. It is within a 'stone's throw' of the music department and enjoys the use of adjacent tennis courts. Wingfield Digby has a friendly, stable and secure atmosphere where girls can develop their potential to the full. The house is named after the family who founded the school and used to live in Sherborne Castle.
Houseparents - Mr Oliver and Mrs Katie McManus
Mr and Mrs McManus joined Sherborne Girls in September 2016 having previously worked at a boarding school for 11 years as Head of Media and teacher of English, and Head of Business Studies respectively. They have both run day houses and have also worked in boarding houses. Most recently, Mr McManus was Housemaster of a mixed age boarding house for 90 boys and girls, supported by Mrs McManus whom, when not teaching, spent time in the boarding house as well as at home with their young daughter, Minnie.
At Wingfield they will be taking on the role of joint Houseparents, and are very much looking forward to making the house their own. They have a wealth of pastoral experience and are particularly keen to promote student voice and leadership.
Other staff in Wingfield Digby
There is a strong team to help with the smooth running of the house. Mrs Coral Brooks, as Day Matron, is our longest standing member of staff in the house. Miss Marian Lopez is Resident House Tutor and Mrs Jayne Dart is the Assistant House Mistress.
What makes Wingfield Digby special to the girls?
I was a new girl this year. I was going into L5 and it was my first time boarding, so I was pretty nervous however I found it easy to settle in as all the teachers and pupils were so friendly and helpful. I don’t know anyone in my year who hasn’t settled in and who isn’t loving their time here.
