Bringing the Vision to Light
Leaving a legacy to Sherborne Girls
For over a hundred years, Sherborne Girls has been educating young women who have gone out into the world to make their mark. These young women have come from many different backgrounds and have gone on to pursue a myriad of dreams. We want to give future generations of girls the same opportunity.
Why leave a legacy to Sherborne Girls?
To realise this vision we need to generate funds to support the many areas of school life that cannot be covered by income from fees alone. One of our priorities is to raise funds for bursaries to support more talented and deserving girls. Funds are also needed for new facilities, including the long-awaited provision of a dedicated space for the performing arts. Investment in new technologies is also required along with additional resources to support the girls in the changing world of learning.
Legacies of any size will help us to realise these aims. Your gift will continue a tradition of philanthropy to the School, which has included the provision of equipment, sponsorship of lectures and prizes, support for new facilities and bursary assistance for girls who otherwise would not have been given the life-changing opportunity of an education at Sherborne Girls.
“Those of us who are privileged to have been educated at Sherborne know how greatly the experience has enriched our lives. The School gave every girl the best opportunity to develop her own individual skills and interests and build her self-confidence. By way of thanks I have left a legacy in my Will to the Old Girls’ Bursary Fund in order to help future generations receive an education which will prepare them to face the challenges of a rapidly-changing world.” Verena Fairs (Hoffman) DH’64.
