Sherborne Girls has a thriving sixth form of over 170 girls. It is an important time of transition, the bridge between the carefully structured routine of school and preparation for university. Sixth form girls are given considerable freedom and encouraged to develop greater academic discipline, responsibility for their own time management and a deeper interest in the world around them.
Our sixth form academic programme caters for girls wishing to follow specific courses in depth (A levels) and for those who wish to maintain breadth in their education (International Baccalaureate). Our IB results in 2016 placed us in 10th place in the UK for ‘small cohort IB schools’. You can read more about our results here
In addition, we provide a considerable programme of academic enrichment with many opportunities for joint societies, lectures and Oxbridge preparation with Sherborne School.
Through our tutor system, we are proud of the individual support we are able to provide our students to ensure that every girl is appropriately challenged to achieve success and fuel academic interest.
Sixth form tutors get to know each girl well and specialist careers and higher education advice helps girls make the right sixth form and university course choices.
