Based in the picture-postcard market town of Sherborne in north-west Dorset, our location is steeped in heritage with gorgeous medieval properties, a magnificent Abbey and the Sherborne family of schools all nestled in the beautiful Dorset countryside. Within easy travelling distance of London with direct train links to Waterloo, a choice of local airports and easy access to the A303 and A30 we think we have the best of all worlds.

Our staff make a full commitment to the School’s full boarding ethos.  Our teaching staff undertake occasional weekend duties, make a significant contribution to the pastoral side of the school, including tutorial duties and liaison with a boarding house, and contribute towards the co-curricular provision of the school.   We encourage our support staff to be continuously engaged in their role by providing opportunities to participate in the wider life of our School, such as taking part in trips or societies and involvement in projects.

Resident Graduate Assistant, Lacrosse

The principal role of the Graduate Assistant, Lacrosse will be to contribute to the coaching of Lacrosse in the School. The successful candidate, however, may have opportunities to engage in any aspects of School life in which they have an interest.

The job is designed to give an opportunity to gain experience of living and working in a boarding school environment, perhaps prior to embarking on a PGCE, or to taking up a full-teaching position. It will also include an opportunity to participate in a coach mentoring and development programme.

Accommodation in a boarding house is provided and will include free meals during term time. In return for accommodation there will be some associated boarding and tutoring duties.

The role will include:

Participating in, assisting with and leading classes in your specialist sport/s.

Involvement with the Saturday afternoon fixtures programme.

Organising and supervising allocated co-curricular activities as part of the wider sports programme.

Enthusiasm, self-motivation and commitment are essential qualities for the role.

Head of Hockey

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Hockey to join us at Sherborne Girls.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and overseeing the hockey programme, to include all fixtures and cup competitions. You will play a pivotal role in inspiring, coaching, and nurturing talent to facilitate excellence in the sport of hockey at performance level, whilst also focussing on enjoyment and participation.

You will work as part of the sports team under the direction of the Head of Sport to deliver a successful sports programme that enables all girls to receive appropriate coaching in Hockey and to play in competitive fixtures according to their ability. They will develop a joy for sport in all individuals and continually seek opportunities to drive and improve the reputation of Sherborne Girls on a local and National level.

Spanish Language Assistant

We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time Spanish Language Assistant to join our school for the academic year 2024/25.

The successful candidate will fully contribute to the language department providing help to prepare pupils for oral examinations in Spanish.

This is a part time role and there may be an opportunity to combine it with a residential pastoral role in one of our 7 boarding houses. Please state in your application if you are interested in a residential role.

Language Tutors (Swahili, Arabic and Modern Greek)

We are seeking to appoint Tutors that will provide one-to-one tutoring and prepare their pupil/s for a GCSE in Swahili, Arabic and Modern Greek.

Online tutoring will be considered and the role is linked to parental funding.
