Academic Academic, Exams, Year 13: U6

We wish our 2025 cohort every success as they receive their A Level results today - 29% of pupils achieved at least one A* grade, with nearly 40% of all examinations awarded A* or A and 16% of pupils securing straight A*/A results. With more than 94% of those applying to university securing places at one of their preferred destinations including Oxford, Cambridge, KCL, Bristol, Edinburgh, Durham and Newcastle it truly is a day for celebration. The breadth and ambition of the degree courses being pursued is also commendable - from French, Law, English Literature & Language, Liberal Arts, and Classical Studies to Economics, Land Economy, Engineering and Biological Sciences.

Following years of outstanding results and high numbers choosing STEM subjects it was wonderful to see Social Sciences and Languages making a comeback this year with notable results in Spanish, History of Art, History, English Literature, Psychology, Geography, Fine Art and Chinese!  With a third of the cohort completing EPQs in addition to their A Levels we are delighted that 63% of these qualifications were awarded A*/A grades.

We also recognise and celebrate those pupils choosing to explore alternative pathways, at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama to read Film Music Competition, coveted degree apprenticeships for example with Microsoft, or others who are taking time to gain further experience before deciding their next steps.

Dr Ruth Sullivan, Head, commented: “This year group has embodied the spirit of Sherborne Girls, displaying a wonderful blend of intellectual curiosity, kindness, adventurous spirit, humility, and aspiration. Their results are a testament to their focus, perseverance, and all-round excellence, but we also celebrate so much more than grades. These young women have been outstanding role models and have led with generosity, supported one another with compassion, and inspired those around them with quiet determination. They will be greatly missed.”

Our thanks go to our parents for their ongoing support and to the dedicated teaching and pastoral staff whose expertise and encouragement have played such a key role in these achievements.

We would like to extend our congratulations to the Upper Sixth from Sherborne Boys who have also achieved results securing them places at top UK universities.
